Step 1: Configure your server
    Server Minimum Requirements:
Typically, hardware that can run Windows 2000 Server will work. The following hardware is recommended for a typical installation:

    Windows/NT Requirements
Pentium IV at 1.4GHz or higher
        18GB hard disk
        512MB RAM
Windows 2000 Server Operating System with latest service packs
        Java Runtime 1.42 or later
        Network connectivity

    UNIX Requirements
Pentium IV at 1.4GHz or higher
        18GB hard disk
        512MB RAM
        Java Runtime 1.4 or later
        Network connectivity

    - Port 25 needs to be open to receive inbound email
    - Port 80 needs to be able to send a communication to our servers (outbound open) to get spam signature updates
    - Please note that this server should be the first mail server that the email goes through.
Step 2: Load the software on the server and Start the SpamCure Application

Step 3: Choose a spam disposition option
There are 3 options for disposing of spam:
  • Let the spam flow through to the end user marked (this is the default option). See step 4 for configuring the user email clients.
  • Send all spam to an account of the administrators choosing. This will take all marked spam away from the users.
  • Delete the spam. This options automatically deletes any message that is marked as spam
Step 4: Configure your emails clients
Our service works by marking the spam emails. This is accomplished by setting up simple rules to move the spam to another folder, delete the spam, forward the spam, etc. Below are examples of rules and how to set them up by type of email client.

Note that the headers of the emails that are detected as spam are marked with X-Mail-Filters-SPAM and the Subject Field with XS:.
If you are using an email client not listed or would like assistance please contact us at Support@mail-filters.com and we would be happy to help.

Step 5: Decide whether to mark the Subject Line
Our service marks the headers of the email and you do not see any changes in addition to the subject field. We will mark it with XS: by default to signify the email is spam. If you would like the subject decoration to be something other than XS: or if you would like us to not mark the subject line, please let us know by sending us an email at Support@mail-filters.com.

Step 6: Enjoy spam-Free email
You are now ready to enjoy the benefits of our service.

We also offer custom lists for all clients to fine tune the service. If you receive an email that was not marked as spam and you would like it to be marked as spam please forward the email message to spam@mail-filters.com. In the subject heading please insert the words domain (if you would like this message blocked for your entire domain) or mailbox ( if you would like this message blocked from only the mailbox it was sent to). We will make sure that you do not receive this in the future.

If you receive a message that was marked as spam and you would not like it marked as spam please forward the email to notspam@mail-filters.com. In the subject heading please insert the words domain (if you would like this message to be received for your entire domain) or mailbox (if you would like this message to be received only for the mailbox it was sent to). We will make sure that it will not be marked as spam in the future.
